A slightly different walking workout
Patients with impaired circulation in the legs should engage in gait training. If this is not possible, inflatable cuffs can help.

In the leg arteries, arteriosclerosis-related narrowings often go unnoticed for a long time. This is because, unlike its counterpart in the heart – known as coronary artery disease – so-called peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAVD) often does not produce symptoms until the leg arteries are barely letting any blood through. Even short walking distances can then become torture and force those affected to stop again and again. Because store displays provide welcome opportunities for rest, the vascular condition is also called store window disease.
